alice owain knitting production

All pieces by alice owain are handmade by Alice. In our studio, we have both industrial and domestic knitting machines. We use a minimal-waste knitting technique, meaning each piece is shaped directly on the machine to minimise leftover material and avoid unnecessary waste.

The knitting machine is the heart of alice owain. We believe in small-scale production and creating pieces that are made to last. Since we work exclusively with deadstock materials, our collections are shaped by the materials available to us. We don't have complete control over every aspect of the process, and embracing the unexpected is an essential part of our creativity.

We choose not to identify solely with a term, such as sustainability, as we don't believe that creating new garments can ever be entirely sustainable. Instead, we focus on making considered choices: sourcing the best materials available to us, producing in small quantities, and creating pieces that are made with care and intended to last.

When you purchase an alice owain piece, you're receiving a garment that has been thoughtfully sourced and carefully made, with the hope that it makes you feel good.
